Medical Services

Persons who qualify for admissions to a Nursing Home in Nova Scotia must have a stable medical status. Persons admitted to Nakile must have an attending Physician.

Nursing Home Medical guidelines suggest that a physician visit a nursing home on the average of four times a year. In the event that medical needs arise between visits the RN on duty will inform the physician who will decide if medical attention can wait for the next scheduled visit. If the nature of the illness is urgent the resident can be transferred to the Emergency Department at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Family members can accompany and transfer a resident to the doctor's office or other outside appointments.
