Persons who qualify for admissions to a Nursing Home in Nova Scotia must have a stable medical status.
A physician regularly visits the home. In the event that medical needs arise between doctor visits, the RN on duty will inform the physician who will decide if medical attention can wait for the next scheduled visit. If the nature of the illness is urgent the resident can be transferred to the Emergency Department at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Family members can accompany and transfer a resident to the doctor's office or other outside appointments.
